For example, if we drag a picture, it get’s “picked up” first, making it appear a little bit bigger, since it would be closer to us. Dropping it results in the picture being “thrown back” to the table, in a random rotation. Viewing all photos mirrors the action of collecting all images into a pile and viewing the first one in a none rotated way. 35. Moving Boxes:

We’ve been down the jQuery “sliders” path a few times before. Once for the Auto-Playing Featured Content Slider and again for the Start/Stop slider. Many of the concepts presented in those tutorials are the same with this slider, so I’m not going to throw a lot of source code at you this time. The big difference here is that there are buttons to change panels and the panels zoom in and out. Fun!

36. Start/Stop Slider:

A little while back I did a tutorial on a Featured Content Slider. It was neat, but a little limited in customization possibility. The two most requested features were being able to add/remove “panels” and a stop/start button.

I’m happy to say I was able to accommodate a bit with this new slider. It’s not a plugin, so it’s not as easy as it possibly could be, but it’s much easier. There is a section at the end for customizing. The slider does feature a stop/start button and the animation goes a little farther than simply sliding to the left =).

43. jQuery Popeye 2.0:

jQuery.popeye is an advanced image gallery script built on the JavaScript library jQuery. Use it to save space when displaying a collection of images and offer your users a nice and elegant way to show a big version of your images without leaving the page flow.

Though the script is quick and easy to setup, it offers great flexibility in both behaviour and styling.

It was designed as an alternative to the often-seen JavaScript image lightbox (see Lightbox 2, Fancybox or Colorbox, just to name a few). What they all have in common: they employ a modal window to display the large images, thus disrupting the workflow of the user interacting with a webpage.

jQuery.popeye takes a different approach: not only allows it for browsing all thumbnails as well as the large images in a single image space, it also repects the page flow and stays anchored and rooted in the webpage at all times, thus giving a less disruptive user experience than modal windows.

A javascript viewer for displaying spherical panoramas. An alternative to Java and QuickTime technology.

Yet another twist on my image manipulation kick, I tinkered around with making images larger again. This time, instead of actually enlarging the image, we are enlarging the ‘viewer’ to see more of it. So, we see a snippet of an image, then when we hover over it, the viewer expands so we see it all!

53. Disjointed Rollovers:

54. Fancy Thumbnail Hover Effect:

Recently I was checking out some nice flash galleries and came across an effect that I really liked. I had a sudden urge to duplicate that similar effect but using my bread and butter (CSS and jQuery). I thought I’d share this and maybe some of you can find it useful.

When speaking about design, there is one company that is impossible to go without. Apple values design – being a new product, a fancy catalog or their website – there is always something to admire. 59. 3D Cloud Carousel:

There are some attractive Adobe Flash based solutions for this type of UI component, and while JavaScript versions exist, the commercial Flash products tend to have better aesthetics and polish. To redress the balance in JavaScript’s favour, I have created this jQuery carousel plugin.

Once the user removes the mouse from the item the rotation will continue from that point. But, it can do so much more…
