Few Tips for e-Commerce Site’s Security

What is E-Commerce? E-commerce refers to the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks (Definition by Wikipedia). Working on an E-Commerce site is not an easy task, you have to give higher attention on Security Issues, so that, site should be saved from Hackers. You need people who are trained in technology, to protect network and data, persons who have MS Information Security commonly known as master degree information security may have confidence to meet the challenge. They have to assure you that your site is protected from Hackers.

Let them do what their job is, you also have to take some precautionary measures. You also have to participate with them, you need to take some actions after launching your project or you are planing to launch your e-commerce project. Here we are going to discuss some points, so obeying these points may also assure you that your data is protected and you can take a sigh of relief. Remember these are a few points which you can do quite easily, that does not mean you don’t have to worry about.

Always Take Backup of your work :

Make this your habit that after finishing your daily work you have to take backup of what you did in whole day. If it looks heck to you then at least once in a week or once in a month. What kind of benefit you can get by taking backup of your work? Simple is that if you lost your online data by any mean, like because of any server crash or hacker’s activity, at least you should have a lot your work as backup. You can take backup in your PC or on some other server, which is feasible for you. Backup should depend upon the sensitivity of the work. If you think that it is the most important work then take backup on different places, don’t rely of any single place.

Use Data Encryption :

By using Secure Socket Layer (i.e. SSL) or Transport Layer Security (i.e. TLS)you can make sure that your data is more secure and mostly every people check it before exposing off their financial information. Customer see it when they came to your site, because it shows “https:” instead of “http:”, so they feel a bit relax while shopping.

A Reliable Payment Gateway :

This should not be a big problem for anyone as most stores are using Widely used payments or Credit Card processors, such as PayPal, Money Bookers, Alert Pay, Google Checkouts and many more. So you should try to use these Secure payments methods.

Get Certifications for your Site :

A lot of companies are offering Third Party Audit services to assure that the site is secure for work. Though their requirements are too high and if your site is not fulfilling their requirement, they will provide you a list of necessary Security Changes, you should have to make them. So after getting Certifications your site is secure to surf.

Get your site hosted on Secure Server :

This should be done before launching your project. You have to find which server is secure and can reduce the security risk. Finance should not be a big matter while selecting the server. Server should be having good reputation in the market. If you have to give some extra amount while getting the best server, then you should not think about it. Just go and get it, it will reduce some of security risk.
