Basic Photoshop Tools to Design Wedding Card – Photoshop Tutorial

Today we are going to Design Wedding Card in Photoshop. This may be for any occasion like Birthday, Wedding Anniversary, Valentine Day, Any Special Day. So I’m going to tell you techniques and tools so you can make any card of your own desire. Lets start our Design Wedding Card in Photoshop.

Here is the Final Result of our Design Wedding Card Tutorial in Photoshop:

1. Start with a new file of size 560 x 800 px, having RGB color mode and 72 DPI. We are going to make Vertical Card. (Remember it will be for sending through email, not for Printing)

2. Now pick Gradient Tool and draw a gradient having #000000 (Black) to #ff8a00 (Orange) color from bottom to top as:

3. Now pick Rounded Rectangle tool and change the radius to 50 px by using Top Property Panel and draw a large Rectangle showing only left and bottom part, all other part above and right (outside) of the document, fill it with #8b0304 color as:

4. Now here we are making a bit complicated part. I’m going to copy this shape 8 times but deleting the previous rectangle from newly created rectangles, so only having the short area towards left and bottom. Let me explaing how, simply press Ctrl+J to duplicate this rounded rectangle and hold Shift key and press Left Arrow once and Down Arrow once. (So newly created Rectangle will move 10px towards left and 10 px towards bottom. Again press Ctrl+J to duplicate newly created Rounded Rectangle and move it 10 px towards left and bottom. So do this for 9 times. Now select last duplicated Rounded Rectangle Layer and hold Ctrl key and click on the thumbnail of above layer name, so it will bring marquee around, and hit Del key to delete that part. Press Ctrl+D to un select and now select its above layer and do the same thing for its upper layer, do this process untill the first duplicated layer, (don’t do anything with the original one). Now change the opacity of first duplicated layer to 90%, then second duplicated layer to 80%, like wise till the last duplicated layer, so you should have something like this:

5. Lets say we are going to make Wedding Anniversary card, so pick Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle of size 200px x 200px at the following position, having White color:

6. Apply the following Layer Styles over it (by using the command Layer >> Layer Styles >> Drop Shadow) and give the following parameters:

After hitting Ok you will get this:

7. Now again pick Rectangle tool and draw a rectangle of size 170×170 px in the middle of previous box, no matter what color it has:

8. Apply the following layer styles over it:

After hitting Ok, you may have this:

9. Now we need to put picture inside it, you may get any picture of your own or get any one through NET, put the picture over this black box layer and hold Alt key and click in the middle of black box layer and picture layer so picture will mask inside the black box as:

10. Pick Rectangular Marquee selection tool and delete the top 15 px area of all Red rounded rectangles as:

11. I’m going to use the following ribbon towards left side as:

12. I’m going to write a text over it, I’ve written “Warm Wishes” text with Yellow color and having normal Drop Shadow and stretched font as:

13. As the red lines boxes left top corner looks Odd, so I’ve deleted those, so our card will be having the following look:

14. Now I’m going to put a Flower towards top right as we have to cover that area. Apply the following Layer Styles over it:

you may have flower like this:

15. Hold down Ctrl key and click on the thumbnail of Flower layer in Layer Panel, it will bring marquee around flower. Take new layer behind Flower layer and fill the selection with Black color. Press Ctrl+D to unselect and then run the command Filter >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur and give 10 in the feather radius. Hit ok and then press Ctrl+T for Transform, right click over it and select Skew and then by using left middle node, move it towards bottom and then hit <Enter> key then redue the opacity of the layer to 50% so you may have Flower shadow like this:

16. Now I need to add text in the middle of the card, but I need a shape to write text over it. I’m using Heart shape to write text. You need to use Custom Shape tool and draw a heart in the middle of the card and fill it with #eda802 color and apply the Inner Glow and Drop Shadow by having these settings:

After hitting heart will look like this:

17. Now put your desire text over it, I’ve written the following text and using Handwritten font and giving it Normal Drop Shadow with distanct=0 as:

18. To fill the bottom left area I’m going to add some text over it, but before that I’m going to make a shape over which I’ll add text later. So pick Custom Shape tool and draw Triangle as shown below:

19. Right click on its name at Layer Panel and select Rasterize Layer. Now Zoom in to this shape and pick Rectangle Marquee selection tool and select the triangle’s left 1 pixel as shown below:

Pick Move Tool (or simply press V) then hit Left Arrow once and then Right Arrow key once so i will separate left 1 pixel area, now press Ctrl+T and change the size towards left side away from the bottom red rounded corner shapes, as shown below:

20. Delete the left area but only keep 10px area which is away from Red rounded shapes and move it above so it should align with the top of right picture as:

Apply the following Gradient over it:

You may have something like this:

21. Now pick Rounded Rectangle tool set the corner radius to 15 form top property panel and draw a rectangle of any size, but having #1d0000 color. Right click on its name in Layer Panel and select Rasterise Layer. Now pick Rectangular Marquee selection tool and select the left top corner having 10 px width and 10 px height, press Ctrl+Shift+I to inverse selection and hit Del key to delete other part of it, adjust it towards top left of the arrow shape as show below:

22. Press Ctrl+J to duplicate it then press Ctrl+T and right click over it and select Flip Vertical and hit <Enter> then adjust it towards the bottom left corner as:

23. Now I’m going to write text over it, use any font of your own desire, color as #edaa06 and give it Layer Styles, I’ve given black 2 px Stroke and normal Drop Shadow:

24. So finally I’m going to put a Wedding Ring at the bottom of the Heart Shape and then giving some detailing over it and finally we will have final result of our Design Wedding Card Tutorial in Photoshop:
