Lets Design Basic Alien in Photoshop – Photoshop Tutorial

This looks to be a Basic Tutorial in Photoshop, in this tutorial we are going to make Alien in Photoshop. A lot of tools involved in making this tutorial, some Filters, Layer Styles, Blending Options to use in making this tutorial. Hopefully it will give you a lot of knowledge about Photoshop.

Final Result of our Alien in Photoshop Tutorial:

1. In Photoshop, create a new document of the following size:

2. Fill the layer with Gradient Tool by using #9f355a and #efdee4 color from left to right as (as it will be a cartoon character, so we will be using Funky colors):

3. Create a new layer form layer panel and make the following selection by using Pen tool . Before selecting, be sure to select Path Mode from the top property panel. After making the selection, right click over it and select Make Selection, then fill it with White color, keep selecting the layer, change the Opacity to 30% from Layer Panel:

So you should have something like this:

4. Do not remove the selection, simply create new layer, pick Brush tool  and use #7a7a7a color, paint the following areas with small brush:

5. Now create a new layer. Make the following selection by using Pen Tool and fill with #64ec5f color as:

6. Keep the selection on and take new layer,  use Brush tool to paint the following areas by using #3a8d3d color:

7. Now use the Brush tool create spots on the face of the Alien. Use this color for spots #96f376:

8. Now create a new layer. Add some Highlight areas with Brush tool  by using #96f376 color as:

9. In this step I am going to create eyes. In a new layer create the following selection and fill with White color:

10. Again by taking new layer and keep the selection on, paint on the inner side of selection edge by using #64ec5f :

11. Create a new layer again and the following selection and fill with #24d4e9 color as:

12. Again by taking new layer I added reflection with Brush tool and add black circle inside the eyes:

13. After taking a new layer make the following selection on Mouth and fill it with White color as:

14. At a new layer keep the selection on, use the Brush tool on the inner edge of the selection and also use the Polygonal Lasso tool to create the teeth line by using #64ec5f color:

15. Now add some White highlights by using the Brush tool to create glass all around the head and face as:

16. At a new layer create a following selection fill with White color and reduce opacity level to 30% from Layer Panel to give the glass reflection as:

17. In this step I’m going to create a Collar. Take new layer and create the following selection and fill it with #64ec5f color as:

18. Now while keep the selection on, take new layer and pick Brush Tool and paint as shown below:

19. To create a Torso you have to create a new layer and create a selection with the Pen tool  and fill it with #64ec5f color:

20. Again create new layer and add some Dark and Highlights tones. Like we did before on the Alien face. Use White color for highlights and Grey for dark tone, as:

21. Now I’m going to make Hands, create new layer and by using Pen Tool make the following selection. Fill it with #64ec5f as:

22. Add some Dark areas using Brush tool and use #3a8d3d color as:

23. Now I’m going to make Second finger, use Pen tool  make the following selection and fill it with same green color, but now pick Dodge tool to highlight some areas as:

24. After taking new layer use Brush tool to paint light and lightning and use the Eraser tool to erase the end tip of the lightning:

25. Now right click on the layer name in Layer Panel and click on the Blending Options to add Outer Glow, use the following settings:

26. After hitting Ok, you will get something like this:

27. Now after creating new layer, pick Elliptical Marquee tool , and draw an ellipse and fill it with #7a7a7a color:

28. Keep the selection on, take new layer and paint the following colors with the brush tool:
