Photoshop Tools to Design Table Calendar Icon

In this Photoshop tutorial you will learn how to Design Table Calendar Icon. This will be a unique tutorial and we will be designing a different kind of Table Calendar Icon using Photoshop tools. You will have some different techniques while working on this tutorial. Lets enjoy making Calendar Icon in Photoshop.

This is the Final Result of Table Calendar Icon in Photoshop:

1. Lets start with a new file in Photoshop, having the following parameters:

2. Create new layer in Layer panel and then pick Polygonal Lasso tool  and make the selection as shown below:

3. Fill it with #c3c3c3 color as shown below:

4. Apply the following Layer Styles over it (By using the command Layer >> Layer Styles >> Bevel & Emboss) and give the following settings:

so you may have this:

5. Pick Polygonal Lasso tool  again, create new layer behind this newly created layer and make the following selection, just 3 pixel away from previously made shape as shown below:

Fill it with #7d7d7d color so you may have this:

6. Again create new layer behind this layer and by using Polygonal Lasso tool , draw a small triangle as shown below:

Fill it with #9a9a9a color and you will get the following:

7. Again after taking new layer behind this layer and making the selection with Polygonal Lasso tool , make a very small triangle and fill it with #525252 color, so you should have something like this:

8. Here is a bit tricky part, I’m going to make a very small shadow under these tiny Triangles, create new layer behind every layer and pick Rectangular Marquee selection tool  and draw a Rectangle anywhere and then pick Gradient Tool  and by using Black and White color draw a very short gradient (black to transparent) as shown below:

9. Press Ctrl+D to unselect it, then Ctrl+T for Transform, then right click over the selection and select Distort and adjust the Gradient as shown below (I’ve used Eraser tool  on some parts to make the shape like this):

Move it under the small triangle as shown below:

10. Press Ctrl+J to duplicate it and then Ctrl+T to reduce the size and adjust it as shown below:

11. Our base is almost ready, so from Layer Panel, create a new Group and move all these layers into it, so that you may hide or unhide all these shapes (I’m going to hide it for a while now). I’m going to make the Month paper over it now. First of all Create new Group again and then create every thing into it. Create new layer and pick Rectangular Marquee selection tool  and draw a Rectangle as shown below anywhere on the file:

Fill it with #6f0000 color as shown below:

12. Now create new layer over it and make a selection of having size 310px width and 50px height, fill it with #570000 color and place it in the center horizontally of the red box but 40px down from top as shown below:

13. Now as we did in Step 8 above, I’ve created 2 gradients object towards left and right of this strip as shown below:

14. Write the name of month over it, use any Font, color etc. I’ve written the following:

15. Now I’ve made 7 strips for writing the day numbers. I’ve made each strip having size of 40px width and 200px height. I’ve placed them with 6px gap in between as shown below:

16. Now by using Type tool , I’ve written days number over each strip, you can use any Font, size, etc. So I’ve written as the following:

17. Now we are going to give Days name (in ABBREVIATION) pick Ellipse tool  and draw a Circle of size 40px width and 40px height. Place it just on top of the first strip as shown below (no matter what color it has, as we will be applying Styles over it):

18. Apply any Style over it by using the Styles Panel (i.e. Windows >> Styles), and copy this circle 6 more times and place on each of the other 6 strips as shown below:

19. Now write day name over it (Just the two letters of each day):

20. I’m going to make hole for Binding on top of this calendar. Pick Rectangular Marquee selection tool  and take new layer. Draw a rectangle of size 20px width and 10px height and fill it with #ffffff color. Copy it as many time unless you fill the whole top area. Select all rectangles and press Ctrl+E to merge all. Like shown below:

21. Apply the following layer styles over it:

you may have this after hitting OK:

22. Pick Custom Shape tool  and draw a Ring shape, like shown below and fill it with #9292929 color:

23. Right click over its name in Layer Panel and select Rasterize layer. Now delete the extra parts by using Rectangular Marquee selection tool  as shown below:

24. Press Ctrl+J to duplicate it and place it towards right, then merge these two shapes and duplicate towards right and place over each hole we just made as shown below:

25. Now as we have made all these things in a Group. Right click over the name of Group in Layer Panel and select Duplicate Group, no need to give any name. After hitting OK, press Ctrl+E to merge all the object in the group into a single layer. Hide the original group, keep selecting the duplicated group, unhide the group in which we made base of the calendar. Press Ctrl+T for Transform and then right click over it and select Distort and by using all the 4 corners, adjust it over base as shown below:

26. Give it a simple Drop Shadow with Blending mode to Color Burn (I’ve moved it a little bit towards right side too):

27. I’ve duplicated it and filling it with Darker red color and moving it behind the Days calendar and removing the top area, duplicate it 3 times and give colors darker and darker, as shown below (so it will give look that 3 months papers are behind it):

28. Now after giving some shadows and a pattern in the background, we will have this final Calendar. Hopefully you have enjoyed making it:
