Today we are going to design an Alien Suit Avatar in Photoshop. Those who are new to Photoshop or started work on Photoshop, may find this tutorial useful as it will teach them How to use Layer Styles in Photoshop, How to use different tools in Photoshop. So lets start working on it.

Step 1:

Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 400×400 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with #395F8B color shade. Now select the Polygon Tool, then set the sides to 3 on the Options bar and check smooth corners on the Polygon Options. In a new layer, draw a polygon with #65656D color shade and 98 x 95 px dimensions( or type 88 px on the radius setting).

Step 2:

Under Layer Style (Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, and Gradient Overlay blending options to the polygon shape layer.

Step 3:

In a new layer, draw a gray Ellipse (by using Ellipse Tool) with #65656D color shade and 57 x 19 px dimensions.

Step 4:

Under Layer Style (Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending option to the gray ellipse layer.

Step 5:

Create a new layer, then draw a large gray circle with #65656D color shade and 110 x 110 px dimensions.

Step 6:

Under Layer Style (Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, and Gradient Overlay blending options to the gray circle layer.

Step 7:

In a new layer, draw a light brown circle with #DFBF99 color shade, 86 x 81 px dimensions.

Step 8:

Under Layer Style (Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, and Gradient Overlay blending options to the light brown circle layer.

Step 9:

In a new layer, draw a gray circle with #65656D color shade and 86 x 81 px dimensions. Then cut the top half as shown below.

Step 10:

Under Layer Style (Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, and Gradient Overlay blending options to the cut out gray circle layer.

Step 11:

In a new layer, draw the small black circles pattern on the cut out gray circle design as shown below. Then in separate layer, add a polygon patch design on the suit.

Step 12:

In a new layer, draw a thin black line on the middle of the suit.

Step 13:

Under Layer Style (Layer > Layer Style) add a Color Overlay, and Gradient Overlay blending options to the black line layer.

Step 14:

In a new layer, draw a very small black circle with 4 x 4 px dimensions on the line design.

Step 15:

Under Layer Style (Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay blending option to your small black circle layer.

Step 16:

Duplicate the small black circle design multiple times and place them on the line design as shown below.

Results:

So here is the Final result of our Alien Suit Avatar Design we just made in Photoshop, I’ve duplicate the avatar suit and change small settings to get these Final Result.
